POWER STATION CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Battersea Power Station is hosting a month-long series of events and activities throughout March with some of the UK’s most influential and well-known women.
TV personalities Arlene Phillips CBE and June Sarpong MBE are among the guests taking part in panel discussions, talks, comedy nights and networking events that will provide an insight into the lives and careers of these inspiring women.
Taking place at The Village Hall, Circus West Village - Circus West is the first chapter in the regeneration of Battersea Power Station - the events commence on 8 March which is the globally recognised day commemorating the movement for women’s rights.
Highlights of the series include:
- Arlene! The Glitz. The Glamour. The Gossip – Renowned choreographer and TV personality Arlene Phillips CBE will be revealing stories from her career and life in showbiz in a live interview on stage with Jacquie Storey. Thursday 8 March at 7:30pm. Tickets are £20.
- Power Stories: June Sarpong – TV presenter and co-founder of the Women: Inspiration and Enterprise Network, joins Power Stories to talk about her new book, ‘Diversify’. She will be signing copies on the night. Tuesday 13 March at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10.
- Avalon Presents: All Women Comedy Line-Up – Hosted by Steff Todd, Avalon returns to The Village Hall with an all-female line-up including Annie McGrath and Lou Sanders. Friday 23 March at 8pm. Tickets are £10.
- The Power of Networks – Concluding the month-long series of events will be a panel discussion on the importance of professional networks. The panel, chaired by Casey Bird, ex-president of SheSays and founder of The Freelance Circle, will bring together the founders of some of the UK’s leading creative networks: Carolyn Dailey, founder of Creative Entrepreneurs, Sinead Koehler, founder of Crafty Fox Market, Diana Bardega, founder of The Mamahood, and Simona Barbieri, founder of Hub Dot. Monday 26 March at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 including a free drink.

Those going to the events will also be able to enjoy a new array of restaurants, shops, cafes, and bars that have opened at Circus West Village, which is quickly becoming London’s most exciting new food and drink destination.
They include Mother, a pizzeria from Copenhagen offering simple soul food (voted third best pizza in London), No. 29 Power Station West, a relaxed neighbourhood bar and restaurant, serving great food all day, Italian restaurant Fiume, where chef Francesco Mazzei is serving classic Italian food from Calabria, Wright Brothers, a new riverside seafood restaurant from the renowned London oyster and shellfish specialists, The CoffeeWorks Project, a family-run business serving the best coffees and tea from around the world as well as homemade cakes and biscuits, Tonkotsu, a Japanese restaurant specialising in ramen and Vagabond, one of the UK’s first urban wineries offering 100 wines by the glass and a fantastic range of craft beers and seasonal food.
The Battersea General Store is the locally run global store with a diverse range of food, freshly made sandwiches and a deli and Boom Cycle, which is known for its high-energy, music-focused fitness experience, has opened its flagship studio at Battersea Power Station.
Battersea Power Station is easily accessible via the riverside walk from Chelsea Bridge or from Battersea Park Road via Circus West Road. The MBNA Thames Clippers River Bus Service is also now operational, putting Circus West Village within 15 minutes of the West End.
