BPS wins award for promoting economic growth
Circus West Village was chosen as the winning project from a shortlist including Tileyard Studios by Pilbrow & Partners, Northwood Park by Urban Infill, Walthamstow EMD Cinema by Pilbrow & Partners, Blenheim House by Paragon Land & Estates and Nexus 25 Strategic Employment Site by Taunton Deane.
Simon Murphy, CEO of the Battersea Power Station Development Company, said:
“This award is a great acknowledgement of the many benefits that Circus West Village has already brought to the local community. These include jobs, amenities, cultural projects and work for many local suppliers and businesses. As the subsequent phases of the project come on line there will be even more to come.”

"The Council has worked closely with Battersea Power Station to ensure that local people benefit from the jobs created and to encourage independent businesses to locate in Circus West Village. This Planning Award will help put Nine Elms firmly on the map for further investment and growth.”
A key initiative run by BPSDC’s shareholders to help promote economic growth is the Battersea Academy for Skills Excellence (BASE), a bespoke service that works in partnership with existing local job programmes to match local people with thousands of roles at Battersea Power Station. A number of jobs have already been secured by local residents across 19 sectors.
Circus West Village is now home to over a thousand residents and the new destination is serviced by the MBNA Thames Clippers River Bus, which puts it within 15 minutes of the West End and under 40 minutes to Canary Wharf. Retailers continue to open for business, providing local residents with independent shops, restaurants, leisure facilities, a pop up space for local business start-ups and a new arts and cultural events venue known as The Village Hall.
Inside the Grade II* listed Power Station, there will be new homes, offices, retail, cultural venues and public space including a new six-acre riverside park. The building’s four iconic chimneys have now been completely rebuilt, and elsewhere on the site tunneling for the Northern Line Extension has been completed and the new Zone 1 Underground Station is being fitted out.
This redevelopment of Battersea Power Station will inject £20bn into the UK economy and will have created 20,000 jobs by the time the project is complete.
